A quick watercolor practice between commissions. I've been having a bunch of problems and it's so hard to concentrate...so I needed to vent it out on something without compromise. Hope you like it.

Let me start by saying it is such a pleasure working with such a wonderful artist on such a beautiful piece. This is one of my absolute favorites in her gallery and I can’t wait to review it.
What I like about this piece:
This is such a cute idea, and I frankly think it was executed better in this work than the original photo by ~Tatiannna. Though, that could be because I have always had more of a liking to traditional art rather than photography. Regardless, I feel like the petals “fit” on the girl better in this work, which is a big reason for the preference.
As I said, I really like how the petals seem to naturally fit, as though they were supposed to be there. At first glance, one may not even be able to tell it’s a flower, and not a skirt. Whether this is good or bad depends on your point of view. I personally think it adds to the piece, as you have to take a double take to really understand, giving your work more appeal. There is a beautiful, light tone to the work that gives the viewer a feeling of peace.
The work is marvelous and cheery, one that everyone should take the time to admire.
Things I would like to find out about this piece:
There is a light tone to the work, which gives a sense of peace and joy. Though, seeing the girl’s stance and lack of facial features leaves one to wonder what it is she is doing, or thinking about. Are hints of what `Gwendolyn12 thought the answers could be in the title of the piece? Or just leading the viewer to wonder more? The piece is titled Mi Rubi L’Anima, an Italian song title by Laura Pausini. I do not speak Italian, but from what I gather it is a song about a young woman who has just lost a very deep love. Though the song itself is beautiful, it seems to raise more questions than it answers, as this piece does not seem to reflect a girl going through heartbreak.
Things I think could be improved:
Now, I am not nearly as spectacular of an artist as dear `Gwendolyn12. I can, however, provide some personal thoughts and insight as to how I think this piece could be improved. Remember I am a learning artist, as well as critique, so much of what I say should only be taken at face value.
One thing I found a bit odd about this piece was the washed out colors and splotches. Not to mention the color bleeding in various places. As stated in the artist comments, it is a watercolor practice, so the washed out colors, splotches, and color bleeds are to be expected for someone beginning in watercolors. That being said, I believe this work would be better served if it were…well, for lack of a better term, less messy. The work is great within itself, but I feel it should be redone with more effort and not as a practice.
The last thing I notice is the petals. Unlike in the original, they look more like a skirt than the petals of a flower. This could be fixed by giving a higher contrast between the individual petals, and giving a stronger edge to the ends. I do like how it looks so natural as a skirt, unlike the original, but I like how the petals contrasted in the original. So if there was some way to find a middle ground between the two I feel like this piece would be perfect.
Final thoughts:
All in all, this is a spectacular piece with very minor issues that should probably not even be addressed as the piece is already very appealing. It’s soft, sweet, delicate, and yet gives a slight curiosity to the viewer; something that every piece should have to encourage viewers to return to the work. Everything seems to fall into place. The only recommendation I would have is to make this part of a “do it again” meme to fix some of the inconsistencies of color. Again, thank you for a wonderful piece, and I can't wait to see more from you.
