Manga/Anime Beauty - An Interview with Riniuu  Heart

Manga/Anime / Digital Media / Paintings / SAI

Hello!:la: Today is a beautiful day.... a day for a new interview!:la:
Welcome to the ninth issue of Manga/Anime Beauty. Heart

After several requests, I interview a star within the dA M/A world, an incredibly talented, kind and lovely european artist  - Riniuu !
I love her art so much, her style is so special and her digital painting is to die for. I'm so glad she agreed to be interviewed - thank you so much!:huggle:

I hope you guys will like this interview, and right after it don't miss the chance to visit her gallery if you haven't already, her art is fantastic!Love

Now, let's get started!

Please note: All the artworks featured on this article were chosen by the deviants themselves, and are considered by them their most meaningful pieces.

Bullet; Green  Hey, Riniuu! I hope you’re fine.Hug
So, why don’t you start this interview presenting yourself to our friends here and telling us a bit about you?

Hi~! I'm good, thank you.
Ehem, nice to meet you everyone! My name is Rini and I'm 18 years old manga artist from Finland.  ヘ( ̄ω ̄ヘ)

"I think this is one of my best artworks ever. It turned out just like I wanted it to look like."

Bullet; Green Now, tell us: why did you choose Manga/Anime as your art style to begin with?

Well, I've loved to draw since a little kid but I found manga/anime style when I was about 11-12 years old. I was a huge fan of Pokemon so it inspired me to try manga/anime style.

Bullet; Green On the follow-up of this question, what is your story with Digital art, and why did you choose to work with this media? And when it comes to Traditional, do you work ever work with it, or you're exclusively a digital artist?

I started my journey with traditional art many years ago. About 2 or 3 years ago my father bought me a drawing tablet. I started practicing with it and in no time I became better and better. Before I got this drawing tablet my sketchbooks were full of drawings but now they're completely empty. I think it's kind of sad that I've stopped drawing traditionally. I wish someday I could get back those old days because in traditional drawing there's something enigmatic that you can't get in digital drawing. I still draw traditionally once in a while but very seldom. Anyway, I chose digital drawing because it has so many possibilities and I think it's easier. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ

Bullet; GreenHow was your journey in becoming who you are today, as an artist? Feel free to share any stories you might have, as well.

I was about 14 years old when I made my very first speedpaint video and uploaded it to YouTube. I made more speedpaints and my channel on YouTube became more popular day by day. Then one day one of my so called "fans" asked me that do I have deviantART account. Well, back then I didn't even know what was deviantART. I made some research and found out what it was, then I just couldn't resist to join. o 3 o I was known as "finraion" for a long time until I decided to change my artist name to "Rini-tan". I was really bad at drawing when I joined dA so I wasn't very popular. I really don't know how it's possible my art is so popular today. (」゜ロ゜)」

"Simple but creepy. This piece is one of my best single layer drawings."

Bullet; Green It is said that digital art is “taking over the world”, per say, and it is indeed the medium used by most of the Manga/Anime artists nowadays. Many say it’s even easier to work with it than with traditional tools. Do you agree with that statement or not, and why?

I absolutely agree with it. As I said before; it is easier. I don't know is it easier to beginners but it's easier to people who changed from traditional to digital art. Digital art is easier because you don't need paper, pen, many colored pencils and other tools. All you need is computer, drawing tablet and drawing software.

Bullet; Green Tell us: Traditional versus Digital: What are the advantages and disadvantages you see on each of them, and what is your favourite?

Interesting question. I think that advantages of traditional art are that you can really feel what you're doing. And also you can move the drawings easily, like if you want to show your friend a drawing you don't have to open your computer to do that. Disadvantages of traditional art are the number of tools and that how much space they take. Probably the worst thing in traditional drawing is that you can't just press "Ctrl + Z" to undo something. (; ̄Д ̄)

Regarding digital art it's kind of conversely; it's really easy to fix the mistakes but you can't really feel it. The drawing is inside the computer screen ... All you can do is look at it, you can't take it out of there unless you print it out. I still prefer digital art because of its many properties and possibilities.

"Calm atmosphere is the keyword of this image. Blue is the main color in this piece, it's not my favourite color but in this piece it looks really good."

Bullet; Green So, on the subject  'tools of the trade' . Which is your program of choice to do art, and why? Have you ever  tried working with other programs besides this one, and if so, what's your opinion on them?

I use Paint Tool SAI for everything. It has everything you need to draw manga/anime. I also use Photoshop Elements 6 to make some effects and texts I can't make in SAI. Gimp is good for making .gif files but I don't recommend to use it for drawing. Telling the truth ... It's piece of rabbit poop. (ノ ゜Д゜)ノ ︵ ┻━┻

"Absolutely one of my all time favourites. Isn't she just so adorable?"

Bullet; Green We'd like to know: how, and when have you found deviantART for the first time?

I joined February 14th 2012 and that was also the day when I found deviantART first time. One of my "fans" told me about this community.

Bullet; Green On the topic of influences, what is the importance deviantART had to your art, since you joined this site as a member?

deviantART have been really important to me and my art. I think it's great that I can share my art with people around the world. dA also has an effect on my personal life. I love to read people's comments and see their art.

"Daily Deviation! I love the colors in this one."

Bullet; GreenAs we can see, you have already gotten a Daily Deviation.  You know, for the people who never had one, and also for those who already have one (or more), it is always interesting to know about how others feel when getting this prestigious feature. So, how was it for you? Did that help or motivate you in any way?

Ah, yes indeed. It's amazing, I couldn't believe it when I saw it. (“⌒∇⌒”) It gives you inspiration to keep drawing and posting art to dA. It also gives you a reason to keep trying harder and harder.

Bullet; Green Now on the creativity field… What inspires you to create, and where do you get ideas from? Also, I'd like you to tell us a bit about 'external motivations'. Friends, family, etc., do they motivate you in any way, artistically speaking?

About 90% of my inspiration and ideas come from music. Listening to music is the easiest way to get inspiration to me. And those rest 10% come from animes/mangas and in fact everything around me; everything I can see. It may sound weird but that's just how it is.

"Parcee is one of my interesting OCs I've ever made. I like how this reference sheet turned out."

Bullet; Green As I couldn't leave out of this interview, now it's time to ask about… Artists who influenced and inspired you!I am a dummy! We all have them. On and off dA, tell us about them! La la la la

In real life, I have only one close friend and we don't see or talk very often because we live far away from each other. I don't have other friends because of my panic disorder. In my family I'm the only artistic person ... Actually, I'm the only one who even cares about art. ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ My two brothers don't really motivate me but my parents are trying to be motivational.
Okay~ Artist Sophie--Chan (a.k.a. Sophiechan90) was my biggest idol and role model when I was younger. My father's uncle is an artist who makes naivist paintings. He have been my inspiration for a long time too.

Bullet; GreenAs we cannot help but wonder, have you ever tried out working with different art styles other than Manga/Anime?

I've tried semi-realism but I realized it's not my style of art. 〜( ̄▽ ̄〜)

Bullet; GreenSo, we are almost ending this interview. Before so, I'd also like to ask: Have you ever considered doing art for a living, do you already work as one, or you intend to carry it on only as a hobby?

Yes, I've been thinking that I would make art for living but it just seems so impossible to me. Maybe it's best that I carry it on only as a hobby.

"Another reference sheet. I like this because her designs are so different compared to my other OCs."

Bullet; Green As a finishing touch, we'd love to know: what sort of art-related projects are currently involved in?

No current art projects.

Bullet; GreenOk, that's it!I am a dummy! now, tell us something random about yourself!:eager: by darkmoon3636

I ♥ pantsu. (ノ>▽<。)ノ

"Sketchy but cute, isn't it? (*≧▽≦)ノシ))"

Thank you so much Riniuu  for your time to answer those questions, you rock! Cuddling up with someone close...Love

I hope you all liked the interview.Love
'Till next time!Huggle!

A shame she deactivated her account. But after reading a few journal posts from others about her, I can see why she deactivated
