So, why don’t you start this interview presenting yourself to our friends here and telling us a bit about you?

Hi~! I'm good, thank you.
Ehem, nice to meet you everyone! My name is Rini and I'm 18 years old manga artist from Finland.  ヘ(￣ω￣ヘ)




Well, I've loved to draw since a little kid but I found manga/anime style when I was about 11-12 years old. I was a huge fan of Pokemon so it inspired me to try manga/anime style.

 On the follow-up of this question, what is your story with Digital art, and why did you choose to work with this media? And when it comes to Traditional, do you work ever work with it, or you're exclusively a digital artist?

I started my journey with traditional art many years ago. About 2 or 3 years ago my father bought me a drawing tablet. I started practicing with it and in no time I became better and better. Before I got this drawing tablet my sketchbooks were full of drawings but now they're completely empty. I think it's kind of sad that I've stopped drawing traditionally. I wish someday I could get back those old days because in traditional drawing there's something enigmatic that you can't get in digital drawing. I still draw traditionally once in a while but very seldom. Anyway, I chose digital drawing because it has so many possibilities and I think it's easier. ヽ(*≧ω≦)ﾉ

How was your journey in becoming who you are today, as an artist? Feel free to share any stories you might have, as well. 

I was about 14 years old when I made my very first speedpaint video and uploaded it to YouTube. I made more speedpaints and my channel on YouTube became more popular day by day. Then one day one of my so called "fans" asked me that do I have deviantART account. Well, back then I didn't even know what was deviantART. I made some research and found out what it was, then I just couldn't resist to join. o 3 o I was known as "finraion" for a long time until I decided to change my artist name to "Rini-tan". I was really bad at drawing when I joined dA so I wasn't very popular. I really don't know how it's possible my art is so popular today. (」゜ロ゜)」




 It is said that digital art is “taking over the world”, per say, and it is indeed the medium used by most of the Manga/Anime artists nowadays. Many say it’s even easier to work with it than with traditional tools. Do you agree with that statement or not, and why?

I absolutely agree with it. As I said before; it is easier. I don't know is it easier to beginners but it's easier to people who changed from traditional to digital art. Digital art is easier because you don't need paper, pen, many colored pencils and other tools. All you need is computer, drawing tablet and drawing software.

 Tell us: Traditional versus Digital: What are the advantages and disadvantages you see on each of them, and what is your favourite?

Interesting question. I think that advantages of traditional art are that you can really feel what you're doing. And also you can move the drawings easily, like if you want to show your friend a drawing you don't have to open your computer to do that. Disadvantages of traditional art are the number of tools and that how much space they take. Probably the worst thing in traditional drawing is that you can't just press "Ctrl + Z" to undo something. (；￣Д￣）

Regarding digital art it's kind of conversely; it's really easy to fix the mistakes but you can't really feel it. The drawing is inside the computer screen ... All you can do is look at it, you can't take it out of there unless you print it out. I still prefer digital art because of its many properties and possibilities.
